Tamarack Grief Resource Center is dedicated to partnering with schools & organizations to support individuals and families through grief, trauma, and transition.

Classroom Guidance Activities 

Interactive, age-appropriate, & fun discussions and activities facilitated in the classroom, for K-12. These activities are designed to fit within a typical class period & are offered at no cost. Topics can be customized, & have included:

bereavement groups & mini camps

  • Age-appropriate bereavement groups and/or mini camps for students grieving the death of a family member or loved one. Mini Camps are one-time 3-hour programs, & groups are typically ongoing. Both can be customized for your school community. Offered at no cost.

    • Groups and Mini Camps are facilitated by trained TGRC staff members. We request at least one counselor or teacher also be present.

    • Held on school/org grounds. Lunchtime & after-school offerings have been well-attended.


Suicide Prevention Training for youth and adults

  • Signs of Suicide (SOS) (for 6th-12th grade students) is an evidence-based program proven to reduce youth suicide attempts. Combining education & awareness, SOS helps youth become more able to identify warning signs of depression & suicide to help themselves and their peers through tough times. Offered at no cost, in-person or virtually.

  • Question, Persuade, Refer (QPR) (for adults) is a suicide intervention & prevention training meant for adults, caregivers, or anyone over the age of 15. QPR teaches about the signs of suicide & ways to intervene in an empathetic and effective way. Offered at no cost, in-person or virtually.


New York life foundation grief sensitive schools initiative

TGRC is partnering with NYL Foundation to expand our reach and increase our impact. This partnership includes a 45-minute collaborative presentation by a TGRC staff member and a NYL agent, followed by a Q&A. Your school becomes eligible for a $500 unrestricted grant AND national recognition as a Grief Sensitive School. Offered at no cost, in-person or virtually.


In-Service Trainings for school personnel 

All presentations can be modified to meet the specific needs of individual organizations. Topics have included:

  • Supporting Grieving Youth

  • The Dirt on Childhood Grief

  • Rooted in Hope: Supporting Schools After Suicide

  • RECHARGE: Care for the Caregiver

  • RECHARGE: Fostering Compassion Resilience
