In this training, Dr. Rides At The Door will focus on common experiences and challenges affecting American Indians amid the COVID-19 pandemic; Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls and Black Lives Matter movements and the recent attack on the U.S. Capitol. We will discuss the grief and losses associated with these events and demonstrate how these events are linked to historical and intergenerational trauma so that participants can better understand the diverse perspectives and experiences of American Indians. The latter half of the session will emphasize strategies for providing support in the areas of communication, decision-making, advocacy, and connection.
